Homage to the Fading Craft

The Art of Mahjong
The Darkside Bar's seasonal menu pays homage to the fading craft of hand-carved Mahjong tiles. Mahjong, a beloved game symbolizing friendship and family bonds, holds a special place in Asian culture. The menu features eight cocktails inspired by the flower and season tiles, representing highly prized virtues and seasonal flavors.

Through a close collaboration with Ricky Cheung and Karen Aruba, a father-daughter duo who run one of the few remaining hand-carving Mahjong businesses in Hong Kong, the menu offers an interactive experience for guests.

Upon opening the menu, guests are greeted with a meticulously arranged display of hand-carved Mahjong tiles, mirroring the layout of a traditional Mahjong table. At the center, a sunken pit holds an eight-faced die, its numbered sides corresponding to the eight unique cocktails within the menu. Each cocktail is meticulously crafted to capture the essence of its corresponding tile, inviting guestes to embark on a sensory journey through the world of Mahjong.
